    Mr. Sowell has great & thoughtful insights on economic & social domestic-issues. Yet his geopolitical takes are ignorant & misguiding. "A man of words & not of deeds is a garden full of weeds" Sadly longtime in his ivory towers he drank too much of our US poisoned kool-aid 🙁

    This man was a giant among men. A true patriot and truth teller. He represented Wisdom and right thing to do. Standing like a parent who corrects his child for the child's sake even though the child resents his father. Too immature to see the love in his father's action. He is a father of our nation as surely as George Washington is. Cultural marxism and the cowardly caving in to its marxist doublespeak political correctness sped up the downward spiral our nation was already in by a strategically placed leftist radical like Obama as president. Borrowing from the movie Dune, a plan within plans, perfectly epitomizes the unamerican(parading around as the right to protest)leftist ideological movement within the United States. Stop and compare the right vs the left in America. The left screams look at the right wing domestic terrorists like the nazi groups and kkk in America today !!! While not mentioning the real numbers of these groups. While not mentioning the democRATS created the kkk. While not mentioning that although the nazis base much of their dogma on race they also have a national socialist agenda as their end game. Yet it's ridiculous for either of these groups to believe they'd ever gain true power here in our country. They have a miniscule number of members and losing members not gaining. So the left, as is the case of all political movements from the left, use absurd albeit true statements that these two groups exist. Blow up and exaggerate the numbers and threats from the right as a stratagem of bait and switch if you will or play a game of mirrored deception. The threat from the fascist nazi socialists in Italy and Germany were real. Still they had more in common with global totalitarian communism being nationalist totalitarian socialist fascism. Much like the leftist cultural marxist American democratic socialist party has much in common with all 3 of these political movement. And today is gaining strength thru subterfuge in politics when they don't own the numbers or the right to have this power. Mostly they are a mix of socialist fascism and restricted capitalist communism as is in place in communist china. The American left wing has easily taken over the democRATic party not by force but by similarities. The democRATS have a history of wishing to centralize government thereby increasing their illegitimate power by decreasing the power of the states as written in our Constitution and weakening our Constitutional Republic. Although there have been examples, like Richard Nixon, of Republicans expanding the bureaucracy. They pale in comparison to the huge expansion of the bureaucracies throughout cities, states and the federal government by the leftist democRATS again as a planned strategy. Working hand in hand as they have done and do with their fellow leftists in DC and blue areas of the country. Using sleight of hand in many if not all instances. The bureaucratic state or government has 60% of its unelected "employees" identifying as democRATS. The most partisan of all people in America making decisions and putting down on paper and making law by interpreting legislation passed in congress. These bureaucracratic institutions are akin to the nomenklature in the old Soviet Union. Our freedom is sliding backwards while the leftist marxist fascist democRATic God complex grows. Finally as a last aside, with a 60% advantage in the unelected, that leaves a paltry 38% Republican and a 2% independent number within our bureaucracies. Operated like an old Roman slave ship. You can guess who occupies the deck. Unfortunately there were reports that Obama place some of his friends in the Muslim brotherhood within some of these unelected positions. We know that Biden has followed by inserting known sexual perverts and incompetents within it now.

    I believe America is the whore of babylon, and according to biblical prophecy: she will be utterly destroyed by fire. That is God's judgement on America. USA has become the habitation of devils. Our children are being sexualized and corrupted. God isn't going to allow this evil to go unpunished. I had a realization long ago that America isn't needed in the world. Americans think the world revolves around USA. We are sorely mistaken. We think ourselves the greatest country in the world. God will bring this "great city" down low such that it will never rise again. Nations overseas will both mourn and rejoice. Revelation 18:10 "They will stand far off, in fear of her torment, and say, “Alas! Alas! You great city, you mighty city, Babylon! For in a single hour your judgment has come.”

    Are there any topics that any of you disagree with in his book? I just finished reading it, cover to cover. I enjoyed it very much and probably agree with most of it. However, what I strongly disagree with him is:
    1. Gay Marriage chapter- He only dedicates about 3 pages to this chapter. I think his arguments, if they can be called that, are very weak. His example of "the law that permits automobiles to drive on highways but forbids bicycles from doing the same thing" was very weak and I can still use that same example as a counter-argument, even though he claims that, "the US Constitution applies to people, not actions", while we can clearly see many actions that are allowed and not allowed in the Constitution and/or Amendments. He goes on to say that gays argue against a ban on gay marriage "but marriage has for centuries mean a union of a man and a woman. There is no gay marriage to ban," he writes. So I ask, if there wasn't a ban on gay marriage, why wouldn't judges marry them before or why couldn't gays marry? If judges don't marry gays because it's not a right in the constitution, then it's a ban. And just because the meaning of marriage has always meant the union of man and woman, this doesn't mean people who favor gay marriage want the definition to be changed. Make up a different word for it, if that makes you happy, and let gays or lesbians enjoy the same rights as heterosexuals. And him considering hetero-marriage more dignifying or valid because "children may result from their union", as he writes, is really discriminatory. For the record, if it makes any difference, I am heterosexual. I only like girls.
    In this same Gay Marriage chapter, which I think there should have been a different one and should have explained very much in detail, he goes on to say that "in the absence of marriage laws, a husband could dump his wife at will and she could lose decades of investment in their relationship. Marriage laws seek to recoup some of that investment for her through alimony when divorce occurs." Adding to this is that men should not get alimony because "what are these ex-husbands being compensated for?" I'm not even going to bother answering. But if he ever picked up a book from the thousands citing how marriage laws, criminal laws and divorce laws end up hurting husbands or men to the point of being criminal while women benefit at men's expense, he would know the answer to what he's asking. People who put women on a pedestal just for being women are known by several names: simp, mangina, blue-pilled, beta or white-knight. Sowell clearly fits any of these labels and brings me to his other chapter and next point which proves it even more.
    2. The Duke Rape Case chapters. I completely or mostly agree with all of his arguments. He mostly dedicated more pages and more parts to this chapter than probably most of the other ones. However, it's what he didn't write about that convinces me that he is a white-knight. In short, he mostly blames the Attorney General for doing a very poor job handling the case and dragging it along just to further or secure his career. And this is a lot of what he talks about. However. Why did he mention the stripper who brought the false charges very little? He should written more negatively about her and explain how the stripper should have been sentenced to the same total amount of years in prison that each of the college students would have received if convicted. He stayed silent on this and indicates that he uses double standards to judge men and women. Overall, the book was very enjoyable to read.

    I know this may sound strange to some… but I am not really concerned with what kids and grand kids are going to have to go through. Right now, I have troubles many and numerous of my own to juggle, who was worrying about me and my generation a generation or two ago? Where is the evidence of that?

    5:30:00 – The Underdogs is a great chapter talking about how Sowell would appear disadvantaged by his upbringing as an orphan in the Jim Crow South, but his having 4 adopted parents gave him incredible advantages.

    Have managed to listen to the end, and content that I did so, firstly because at my age of 83 I feel that I am not alone to think like the person that wrote this presentation, secondly because I did not find a single point that I disagreed with.
    It reminds me of the literature professor in my last year of High School, when he made us learn by ourselves by giving us the task of finding the proposals of "Adam Smith" for half of the class and of "Karl Marx" for the other half But later telling us that we had to confront each other for the pros and cons of each. This forced us to study what the opposition would have in favor against the other group.
    THANK YOU is not enough, and this presentation should be introduced in all High Schools, not leaving it to universities.

    A "female" person, respected for her acumen, a few years back ,made what for me was a strange comment on Obama. Simply put, her comment boiled down to that Obama favors the Islamic doctrine, and not the Western way of life, and proceeded with many instances to prove her point. So now listening to this presentation, it would appear that she has had a valid point, more so on his dealings with Iran.
